How to make AMBALAPUZHA PAALPAYASAM at home,Krishna janmashtami special


Ambala puzha is a small village in allapuzha district. And AMBALAPUZHA is famous for the shree krishna temple. The mythology says that everyday shreekrishna comes to the temple to have this payasam. So this payasam is offered to the god. Payasam is basically a Kerala cuisine which is served on banana leaf during the feast. Payasam can be made out of many other things like moong dal, banana ,pineapple etc. But AMBALAPUZHA PAALPAYASAM is made of rice and milk and it has an amazing pinkish yellow colour which is very specific to this payasam. So what are you waiting for lets make this payasam and make Lord Krishna happy on this very special occasion of his birthday


Ingredients 

  • 1 litre full cream milk
  • 1/2 litre water 
  • 1 serving spoon rice (basmati rice)
  • Sugar as per taste (250 gram preferred)



METHOD


  1. Put all the ingredients together in a cooker and place cooker on High flame.
  2. Let the milk become warm not boil.
  3. Close the lid with whistle and lower the flame to low.
  4. After half an hour 1 whistle will come as soon as you hear the whistle switch off the flame. Let the steam release.
  5. Garnish with ghee and roasted almonds, cashew and raisin.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf 
  • ½ Star anise
  • 200gm chicken
  • 3 bowl basmati rice
  • 2 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 tablespoon warm milk with saffron 
  • 1 table spoon red chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves 


Method


  1. Heat the ghee in cooker.
  2. Add cinnamon stick, black cardamom, green cardamom, cloves, bay leaf, star anise.
  3. Add onion fry till golden brown.
  4. Add chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric, garam masala powder. Saute it for a minute.
  5. Add tomato and chicken. Fry till the chicken get coated with masala and masala starts leaving ghee.
  6. Add soaked basmati rice, add salt and add 3 bowl of water.
  7. Pressure cook till 1 whistle.
  8. Let the pressure release open the lid and add saffron milk.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves.




SERVING SUGGESTIONS:- SERVE IT WITH CURD OR CHICKEN KORMA.
